Over the course of 8 years, I watched as my weight spiraled out of control. I went from 210 lbs to 365 lbs.
The impact on my mind and body was dramatic. But like most overweight people, I masked it in loose clothing and acceptance. That system worked for me but as the weight continued to climb; my body began to show me enough was enough.
In the wise words of my then doctor: “Dude, Ima be honest with you. You are so fat you are destroying your right ankle with every step you take. Cut that shit out.” I wanted to punch him in the face but he said exactly what I needed to hear. This was in November of 2010 and from that point on I was on a low carb diet restricted to 20g of carbs a day, trying my best to be as active as possible.
Long story short, it worked. I have tried and failed many times before but this time it worked.
I lost 115 lbs. Took me 2 years but who’s counting.
So like everyone else, the weight comes off and the diet goes away. But when the diet went away, the pounds started to return. That is when I realized that being overweight is not the problem. It is the body’s reaction to the problem. Being overweight is the result of poor eating habits.
I realized I had no idea how to be healthy without being on a diet.
That being said, I took my regular Instagram account, deleted all the nonsense I posted over the few months I had it & made it into a living & breathing journal to catalog my weight loss journey. The purpose of that account was to create a place where I could be accountable and learn how to live a healthy lifestyle.
I never set out to motivate or inspire anyone. I am a flawed individual trying to better himself the best way he knows how.
This is me motivating myself in a public forum. Instagram is my diary & this website is my cookbook.
Simply put, I refuse to go back to that lonely place where this all started. For me, this is the most feasible way to obtain my goals.
Failure is not an option.

In an effort to give transparency to my journey, I have decided to start video blogging. This is the first of many. This vlog covers the beginning of my journey, being overweight, becoming low carb and the life changing events that inspired it all.
